Black Masquerade

On the right hand side of the main club, a darkened room is guarded by Bael, the demon bouncer. Above the entrance way is a subtle, obsidian sign, glowing with lava, indicating the name of the VIP lounge.

The Devil’s Edge.

It was a perfect name, at least the King of all Demons thought so. And so, in favor of the Crossroads, Lucifer himself worked his magic, pushed from the depths of Hell a cavernous room, forged by the lava that flowed through his burning lakes to create a worthy VIP room of the Crossroads. Basalt in entirety, obsidian stalactites hung from the ceiling while stalagmites of equal fortitude erupted from the floors. The walls were infused the bright orange lava, the same from the sign, which provided the lighting for the room. Booths and lounges were covered in black leather and each table and counter top was made of the same obsidian rock that hung from the ceiling.

A small bar area is available for those to help themselves, but be careful…you may not be able to leave if you eat something from this room.

~*~Black Masquerade Rules~*~

First and foremost, all Crossroads rules apply.
http://www.bloodletting.org/forums/forum_posts.php?topicID=2302852cad688f2215ce45c88cd5f9c775e94

Second, you might be wondering just what the heck is the Black Masquerade??

Well, it's an annual party where everyone's name is Black Masquerade in this thread and you get to have your character dress up for Halloween and interact with everyone without knowing who anyone is.

So put aside your Coven and Sanctuary biases and enjoy yourselves!

Since this is an anonymous thread, we ask that you title each post with your costume. So if you're going as a pink bunny, your posts should start with something along the lines of:

The Pink Bunny
And follow that with your post.
(Note: we do allow a small picture at the top of the post, so long as you still describe your costume. This is a writing site after all!)

Remember to stay in the character of your costume the whole time! The point is for no one to know who you are! As with any thread, one liners are discouraged.

Most importantly: Have fun!

***This thread will be open from October 26th until November 4th, so you have plenty of time to join and interact with everyone!***

Black Masquerade

The Devil's Edge sets the perfect atmosphere for the Black Masquerade, leaving very little needed in decorations, only leaving the lounge to expand to accommodate that it is, for this night, open to the public. Spider webs were placed in the corners, fake—yet oddly real looking—spiders handing from the webs. Bats will occasionally fly around the ceiling, but don’t worry they won’t bother you! A small layer of fog covers the floor, so be careful, you never know what might be lurking around your feet.

Along with the music that will be constantly playing, scream tracks and other haunting sounds to randomly play during the night.

At the bar and each of the tables, is the menu, as well as a list of what can be won throughout the night.
If there are at least five participants:
1 1000BM draw. *For every additional 5 participants, an additional draw will be done for 1000BM

Plus! Every costume will be numbered and there will be 5 names drawn for the following Prize Pack:

Black Masquerade

The Hostess

She made sure all the final touches of the room were complete. Each table had a menu, the music was ready, and food and drinks were being prepped. The clock ticked down ever so slowly. It was her favorite time of year. She loved seeing all the costumes and enjoyed the carefree interactions, even if it was only for a short while before everyone went back to being enemies.

Until, finally, it was time. The clock struck midnight and she opened the doors, allowing guests access.

They would, of course, be checked by the bouncers. No real weapons allowed. And they wouldn't be able to use any magic either, thanks to a spell cast on the club.

She would great each guess as they entered, taking note of every costume for the prizes later on.

Black Masquerade

Satan

A night of pure frieghts reached once again.  The very thought made this creature smile with delight but now it was to stay hidden once more.  The guessing game would take place once again and smile from the undead would be seen in all directions.      For weeks this creature paced back and forth, thinking, being tormented by this evil thought  "What shall I go as?"  Of course a presence would be seen but to fool someone, well that was the game.

Just as one was about to give up and throw in the towel, a thought struck.  A slick, sneering, sinister grin pulled at the corners of it's lips.  Only this creature would know.  Granted no forms of magic, no weapons, no nothing but the mere question..."Who are they" would be played and it was a delicious thought. FInally the night was here!  It was actually here and the hours would go by so quickly.  Such a shame, really but now, it was time to have fun!

The attire was all black, face painted porcelllain white.  Thick eery makeup down around the eyes and the pools of pitch black scanned several areas. The eyes were odd since they held very little color. Dark gray.  Black lines were drawn from the lower eye,all the way down the smooth fragile face.  Appearing is if this one had been crying.  Hair bleached blond, short in length, a long black coat rapped around the lith frame.  If anything, who would want to approach?  Obviously the curious.  It's silhouette looks of a small individual, gaunt and deep down, it's far from human. Doing it's best to look 'pretty', it placed a few shiny things in it's hair and grinned.  A look of pure raging hunger is detected but as it was once said, a night of pure fun.

Walking through the doors, after it was carefully inspected,  head canted to the side, dark orbs searching the premises until it found a booth nearby. Swiftly walking to it, it slowly slid it's frame towards the middle and just sat there, staring.

Black Masquerade

Hel.

What creature this, to climb the steps. Invited in to play. The devils roamed this night and she was the same. Death and decay. Half-alive. Corpse draped in white, in feathers and bone, muscle, but little skin. She held a pendant filled with mysterious red liquid. But no weapons. No magic that might harm or ruin the festivities. Only herself. Only body among bodies. Hel who walked into Hell, the room filled with monstrous masks hiding monsters beneath them.

A chance to play a new game. Unable to know what hid beneath faces. If true selves were present or masqueraders. This one would walk up the steps, gait even and measured to glide through the low hanging fog produced. Fruits of labor, decorations set to entice. The people more so. Delight. Captured in those otherwise dead eyes. The color indecipherable from the low light of the room.

Sweeping movements, long strides. She would smile at the Hostess and then, once further inside, at the others. Pretty packages waiting to be unwrapped. Or to win the game of remaining hidden. Blessed, those devils and demons, hellions and horrors. All finding their place in the dance, the mechanism that was entertainment. A winding watch. A ticking clock. And so much fun to be had.

There was nothing so vibrant as the land of the dead.

A turn of the hips. Glimpse of a smile. To the Hostess, loud enough to be heard over the music, a compliment. Voice melodious wood smoke. “Well met, well received. It will be a gift of an evening, surely.”

Black Masquerade

The Hell Spawn

It had been REALLY hard getting across to the Crossroads by way of a transit station. No, it wasn’t the looks they received, those were actually quite comical. It was the costume itself. The head bonked into things, the horns hooked onto others. The robes dragged mercilessly on the ground, causing them to trip from time to time. Not very dignified as a Hell Spawn at all.

But they had finally made it to the Masquerade. It was their favorite event of the year. And while this year’s costume gave totally anonymity in every way, it was also a major pain in the ass.

Shuffling through the door made for a bit of ducking to not knock their head off or for the horns to get caught of the frame.

A nod was given to the Hostess and her goodies were looked over. All the familiar favorites were there.

A couple of women had already shown up. Well, who knew if they were really women? This was, after all, a night for costumes. But, from appearance, they would deem them women.

The Hell Spawn moved silently, the long robes now trailing against the nicely polished for with ease.

There was one problem with this costume, the Hell Spawn soon realized.

“How the hell am I gonna eat and drink?”

Black Masquerade

Wonder Woman

She hoped the costume was good enough. It didn’t have a mask, thought it did have make-up, a wig and the showing of way too much skin for her liking.

She strode into the Masquerade with an air of confidence however, even though she felt like jelly on the inside. Social interactions were not her forte.

She waved to the hostess and grabbed a drink for each hand, moving closer to where the others had congregated. The giant demon looking thing was just… freaky.

The two females seemed nice enough. She moved to looked like someone from a Nordic religion. Hela? Hel? She could be wrong though. And the other was easier to discern. She looked like a female Satan, if Wonder Woman’s guesses were correct.

She moved closer still, sipping back one drink rather quickly before speaking. “Hello ladies. You both have absolutely stunning costumes!” She said as she smiled. She suddenly felt very very silly to be dressed as Wonder Woman. Past costumes had been so much better, but, and she wouldn’t dare admit this out loud, she really loved the new big screen version of Wonder Woman.

Black Masquerade

The Dark Wizard

Despite this being a masquerade, his costume lacked a mask. However, the hood of his black-and-silver robe did a fine job of hiding his face. He walked silently into the room and glanced around at the other guests. Most of them fit the spooky vibe. Except Wonder Woman, which was totally not spooky.

Satan

Watching others meander in, one more clumsy than the other, it only blinked once.  But when Wonder Woman spoke, the head eerily turned toward the sound.  A creepy, toothy grin flashed as it hissed the words.

"Thanks.  Quite clever I must say. Ladies?"

It's body never wavered from where it sat.  Smack dab in the middle and it surely wasn't hungry and had already fed before coming.  Thoughts of wonderment played within the mind and the other costumes were good.   The Hell Spawn was good, would've been more freaky if it hadn't been clumsy.   Hel, that one was quite clever. voice smooth as silk but pretty.  Wonder Woman was an awesome movie.  It couldn't lie.   Then there was The Dark Wizard.  Still seen but hidden.  Clever.

Puppet Master

What to ventriloquists wear? Don't they sometimes do like...matching outfits with their puppets? Maybe they could have a theme. Lumberjacks...no. He didn't look great in plaid. All white? No...it's after labor day. Maybe suits. That would be fun. He sent a text to his Puppet with the idea.

The puppet master went and bought a nice black suit, because he didn't own one. Shocking. He also bought a hat. A top hat. He was being a bit cheeky, but why not! And of course a simple black mask to 'hide' himself. His costume was nice and simple, but it was not much if anything without his Puppet, and they had a bigger task tha he did.

Since he was ready, he called a car to be to them shortly, then went to where his puppet should have been getting ready knocked on the door, "Ready when you are!"

Black Masquerade

The Puppet

First Halloween ever and there was a party! A Masquerade even.

With some coaxing and plotting between she and another, a decision was made. The items necessary were easy enough to gather- a black suit and bow tie, white button down, black dress shoes, a top hat.. of course. The makeup was easier. A few lines of liquid liner drawn straight down from the corners of her lips and a mask to hide most of her face. Just like her partner in crime. Before slipping on her jacket though, she cut the seam that rested between her shoulder blades for the Puppet Master's hand to fit through.

A knock announced the Puppet Master was ready and that the car had arrived. Though it was a long drive, the woman passed the time gazing out the window, excited for the night ahead. By the time they had arrived at the club, she was nearly vibrating.

Dragging the Puppet Master from the car, the Puppet burst through the front doors of the club. The bouncers were nice enough but then neither of the two were armed. A quick pat down and the duo were making their way through the inner doors that led to the party. This was going to be an interesting night to say the least.

Black Masquerade

The Dark Wizard

He helped himself to some Witch Fingers as a couple of people came in. One appeared to be a puppet of some kind and the other was obviously the puppeteer. Interesting, considering it was on the border of spooky and not spooky. He was interested to see what other costumes people had come up with.

Black Masquerade

Maleficent

Entering the room, the woman stood regally and surveyed those around her, an amused smile curved her full lips. She gave a nod to the hostess as she passed, and with a delicate hand, took a glass of something blood red, her long nails wrapping around the vessel, tapping on it as she moved.

Tonight, she was dressed almost entirely in black, only the vivid red of her lipstick and her green eyes beneath perfectly arched brows would light up the pale face that showcased stark, too prominent cheekbones. Her headpiece, which hid her hair, showed off two large horns clad in black material that came to a widow’s peak at the top of her forehead. The dress flowed around her as black as midnight, accentuated with the bones of the fallen covering the line of her collar, sleeves and the front of the dress. An added spell from a helpful witch made the dress appear to ooze behind her as she strolled across the room, heading for the bar. Would anyone know who she really was, did it matter? Tonight, she was Maleficent, and though she wore no mask, the makeup and prosthetic cheekbones were enough to hide her true identity.

Black Masquerade

Joker

The man ran his hands through his shortened dyed green hair, the word damaged in cursive script across his forehead, darkened eyes and a red coloured pout grinned back at him. Even the metal teeth had been acquired to round out the ensemble. He looked nothing like himself, and couldn’t wait for Harlequin to see him. Moreover, he couldn’t wait to feast his eyes on her. Would she stay true to the costume and wear those tiny shorts with the fishnets? He hoped so. This night was going to be a blast, and he was also looking forward to seeing who they chose to be for the ball.

Pulling the purple crocodile skin leather jacket on over his bare chest, he checked himself one more time. His skin now covered in fake tattoos; the jester skull on the right pec, the words ‘haha’ running over his left and JOKER in large stylised letters across his stomach. His physique was more significant than the Joker’s from Suicide Squad, but he was still rocking the vibe.

Picking up his partner in crime, he bowed then ushered her into the waiting vehicle. She looked stunning, and he had to keep his mind on the road, head in the game, or else they might never make it to the masquerade at all.

Upon arriving, he suggested a grand entrance and went ahead of her into the Devil’s Edge. Entering the masquerade ball his head held high he looked every f-cker in the eyes and grinned wide. Then without looking behind him, held out his hand awaited his lady to place hers in his so they could walk in together.
