"Thank you. It's Romanian. If the accent didn't give it away," Daciana grinned, reaching out to complete the handshake. Awkward, definitely, but she found herself enjoying Callum's company.
The offer for coffee brought out the first genuine smile he'd seen since her failed attempt at pilfering his pockets.
"Coffee sounds great. We can make it easier on both of us and I'll give you my number. No strings attached. Call or text me whenever you feel like grabbing that coffee. How's that?" Part of her expected him to decline on behalf of the girlfriend, but she's nothing if not forward. So why not? |

It takes every ounce of self control to restrain herself from reaching out and pinching the man's cheeks. He's so damn cute she can hardly stand it. Instead, Daciana lifts her hands in mock surrender. "Worry not, your virtue and... assets are safe from me."
The lingering mischievous smile adds an unspoken, 'for now,' accompanied by a wink.
It's all in good fun. She respects relationships and boundaries, but she is and has always been one to tease easy targets. He'll discover that for himself if they spend enough time together. This one has a sweetness to him that almost makes her feel guilty. Almost, but not quite.
"Today we both lack manners," Daciana grins, "but all is forgiven. Nice to meet you, Callum. I'm Daciana." |

The man's apparent flustered state amuses Daciana to no end. Instead of stepping in to rescue him, she lets him flounder with a half smile on her lips. She isn't cruel per se, but she isn't above watching a person squirm a bit.
Finally she takes mercy and laughs. Quietly. It's more of a warm chuckle to be honest. At least it's a friendly one. "I promise I'll try to remember my manners next time."
Now her blue eyes sparkle with bedevilment. "Except you told me not to ask you, so I suppose that means I'm free to touch whenever I'd like?" She isn't entirely serious, of course. The mischief runs deep in this one. |

The voice of her would-be victim has Daciana turning around to face the man, a coy half smile on her lips. That alone indicates she recognizes the teasing tone, or she's a sassy one. Perhaps both.

"You promised you'd never leave." She replies softly, brow knitting with concern. Of course, it'd been a promise made in what felt like another lifetime. When they were younger, happier, and only just beginning their life together. The love Rhiannon feels for Callum has endured through the many years she's known him, however it has transformed. "I've missed you."
The angel is honest, as she always has been, with the man who'd once been the center of her world. But when she sensed they were beginning to cross a threshold she'd promised to never again traverse, her tender grip on him releases. "I should... The coffee is for Soleil." She offers a half-hearted smile. "Catch up soon, yeah?" And for whatever reason, fleeing from Callum feels like a retreat. |

In the year she's been married to Rhiannon, Soleil has never been too apologetic about her feelings for Callum. She is not his biggest fan. But, the apology catches her off guard, and the resentment she harbors for the man falters. She'd been witness to how his absence affected both Rhiannon, and Margot. Admittedly, she'd even felt sorry for Wilson - the child needed some form of male presence in his life. Nevertheless, Soleil lifts her chin, perhaps too proud to admit that she's relieved Callum has returned.

Rhiannon watches. And watches. She'd left early that morning to grab coffee for Soleil - the Angel doesn't need caffeine, she's naturally energized. And if it wasn't by chance that'd she'd now be in the Starbucks just two blocks from her home, she may have never seen the only face more familiar to her than her own. "Callum?" She pauses, one hand clutching a cappuccino, the other reaching out to tap on the man's shoulder.
She didn't have to poise his name as a question. She knows every detail of him, even now. "When did you get back?" She pauses, caramel eyes searching him for signs of illness and injury. "Where the hell have you been?" |
